Growing up in the south, we have developed a deep love for all things pecan. From toasting these tasty nuts to enjoying in my favorite desserts, it made us wonder if we could combine this childhood favorite with our moonshine.

While many may falsely believe that moonshine is a harsh white whiskey only reserved for those who love hard liquor, it couldn’t be less true. In fact, moonshine can be almost anything you want it to be. This is because moonshine can be made out of such a wide variety of ingredients.

Traditionally, moonshine was made from grains. This is because when the early pioneers were settling in America (before it was even a country!) the farmers would ferment their excess grain.

At first, it was likely as a way to preserve their excess harvest. However, it was soon discovered that corn was far more valuable when fermented into whiskey. In fact, it was even used as a form of currency at that time.

Making sugar shine is a simple process. It is arguably the simplest way to make moonshine as well as the cheapest. 

In essence, you are simply dissolving sugar in water and then adding yeast. Here is a simple step-by-step video that shows how to make 1 gallon of sugar shine.

Butter Pecan Syrup Recipe

  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 5 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Dash salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions for Butter Pecan Syrup:

  1. This recipe uses a slower cooker to achieve its syrupy consistency. 
  2. Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt in your slow cooker. 
  3. Whisk in water. 
  4. Cover and cook on high, stirring every 30 minutes, until you get a thick syrupy consistency. This usually takes about 3 hours. 
  5. Whisk in butter until melted. Stir in pecans and vanilla.

This delicious drink is a great treat for those who love the sweeter things in life. While the moonshine and the cream soda kick the sugar up high, the club soda is a great balance that makes this drink and delicious option for everyone. 



  • 2 oz Butter Pecan Moonshine
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 can club soda
  • 4 oz cream soda
  • Butterscotch or caramel, for drizzling
  • Whipped cream (optional) 

Instructions

  1. The first step is to dial up the drama by rimming your glass with butterscotch or caramel. Of course, this step is optional but highly suggested. In order to do this step, simply pour about ½ cup of caramel or butterscotch onto a small plate that just fits your glass. A saucer or small side plate is ideal. 
  2. Next, dip the sides of your glass into the caramel or butterscotch slowly making sure to coat your glass as evenly as possible by rotating a few times. 
  3. Now that you have your rim, you can add your moonshine, brown sugar, vanilla extract abd cream soda to your glass. 
  4. Lightly stir. 
  5. Your drink will fizz up. Once the fizz subsides, you can add your club soda. 
  6. Top with whip cream and caramel drizzle. 
  7. Enjoy!

 

Butter Pecan Moonshine Coffee

 

 

Moonshine is a delicious and fun way to perk uo your morning. Our butter pecan moonshine coffee is a great little pick me up that is a great start to your morning. 

Our recipe starts with your choice of coffee. Whether you want a decaf to enjoy this drink as a nightcap or a strong bold brew to wake you up in the morning, the choice is yours. 

Ingredients

  • I cup of the coffee of your choice ¾ full
  • 2 tablespoons of heavy cream 
  • 2 oz of butter pecan moonshine 
  • Caramel or butterscotch syrup (optional) 
  • Whipped cream (optional) 

Instructions

  1. The first step is to rim your mug with caramel or butterscotch. This step is optional, but strongly encouraged for both aestheitc and taste. 
  2. Using a small plate or saucer pour a circle of caramel or butterscotch about the diameter of your mug of choice. Plug your mug upside down in the syrup and rotate it completely to coat the rim evenly. 
  3. Once the rim is covered, you can pour your coffee into your mug. Be sure to leave room for the moonshine and the cream in your mug. 
  4. Add your moonshine and the cream and stir well. Top with whip cream and caramel drizzle. 
  5. Enjoy!
